BMC Trust Holds Inaugural Fundraising Dinner

Belfast Metropolitan College Charitable Trust has held its inaugural awareness and fundraising dinner at the Belfast Harbour Commissioners.  The event was attended by 160 representatives from leading Northern Ireland business organisations.

Belfast Metropolitan College Trust is a registered charity which raises donations from businesses and individuals to support the College and its student body.  Each year the Trust selects talented and committed students and awards them with financial support to enable them to develop and enhance their industry experience and skills.  This scholarship scheme has been in existence since 2006/07 and has already enhanced the career and life experiences of 36 students.

The Attendees enjoyed a 3-course dinner, followed by local historian, Dr. Jonathon Bardon relaying anecdotes about the Belfast Harbour.  The entertainment for the evening was provided by Nuala McKeever and followed by the BMC Trust charity auction which was hosted by Aidan Browne, BMC Curriculum Centre Manager and UTV presenter.

Many of the items within the auction were designed and produced by BMC staff and students and they ranged from exquisite artwork items to handcrafted ceramic and silk pieces.

Maura Lavery, Deputy Director at Belfast Metropolitan College said;
“On behalf of everyone at Belfast Metropolitan College Trust, I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.  It is very uplifting that even though we are emerging from a recession, many local companies are investing in the future of our students.”
